Surrey Chess Festival 2024
Bring your family and friends out to the 2024 Surrey Chess Festival on Saturday, May 11. This FUN event is hosted by Juniors to Masters Chess Academy and Vancity Chess.
There will be a variety of chess activities for all to enjoy and take part in.
Date / Time: Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 12pm to 6pm
Location: The Shops at Morgan Crossing, 15765 Croydon Dr, Surrey, BC (near playground area)
12pm: Welcome and Announcements
12pm to 6pm: FREE EVENTS:
1. Casual play - There will be lots of opportunity to play some friendly games.
2. Take selfie with BC Chess Federation's version of the Stanley Cup, the BC Championship Trophy; along with Vancity Chess' unique perpetual championship chess trophies.
12pm to 2pm: Blitz Tournament - Pre-register and Pay Entry Fee
- 6 rounds of unrated blitz, 3 mins + 2 secs incr.

2:30pm to 4pm: Tandem Master Simul - Pre-register and Pay Entry Fee
-Test your play against Grandmaster Gergely Szabo and FIDE Master Joshua Doknjas.

Juniors to Masters Chess Academy Inc. is the provider of the National Training Program for Canadian Youths, as sanctioned by the Chess Federation of Canada. Juniors to Masters Chess Academy Inc. was founded by GM Gergely Szabo and Victoria Doknjas. GM Gergely Szabo has been Team Canada’s Head Coach at WYCC, WCCC, World U16 Youth Olympiad, and the Women’s Olympiad. Victoria has been Team Canada’s Head of Delegation at multiple WYCCs and NAYCCs.
Additionally, JtM In-House Masters include published chess book authors (Everyman Chess), FM Joshua Doknjas and FM John Doknjas, as well as NM Neil Doknjas, IM Nicholas Vettese, IM Adrian Musat, GM Shawn Rodrigue-Lemieux, and WGM Maïli-Jade Ouellet.
