Juniors to Masters Chess Academy and Fraser Valley Chess Academy, in collaboration, will host the 2024 Keres Memorial at the Westfield Country Club in Surrey, BC.

Surrey is the second largest city in BC by population and will also be hosting the Canadian Open and Canadian Youth Chess Championship in July 2025. We have an opportunity to help grow and promote chess in Surrey, and to get our local players excited and ready. We can start by hosting a major BC event like the 2024 Keres Memorial in Surrey.
Grandmaster Gergely Szabo will be competing at the 2024 Keres Memorial to help promote chess in Surrey and the surrounding areas. GM Gergely Szabo has been the Team Canada Head Coach for several Canadian Teams will help raise the level of the 2024 Keres Memorial.
- GM Gergely Szabo will also be running GM Boot Camps in-person in the week prior to Keres Memorial to help prep players for the tournament. You can separately register for these GM Boot Camps using the following link: GM Boot Camp 2024 - BC

Sat, May 18, 2024: Round 1: 10am start; Round 2: 3pm start
Sun, May 19, 2024: Round 3: 10am start; AGM: 2:30pm or ASAP; Round 4: 4pm start or ASAP
Mon, May 20, 2024: Round 5: 9:30am start; Round 6: 2:30pm start
Prize ceremony with dinner: 6:30pm to 8:30pm and social time (optional attendance)
Time Control: 90 mins + 30 secs increment (6 rounds)

Tournament Fee:
Early bird $105 + GST: Until Mar 31st, 2024 – midnight.
Regular $120 + GST: Until May 16th, 2024 - midnight.
Play-up fee: $30 if player is within 200 points range.
*Unrated players may play in U1300 section without extra fee upon request, recommended for players with online ratings above 1300.
Family Discount: $20 per player from 2nd family member onwards.
No onsite registration. No refunds after registration closes/ for no-shows or withdrawals.

Juniors to Masters Chess Academy Inc. is the provider of the National Training Program for Canadian Youths, as sanctioned by the Chess Federation of Canada. Juniors to Masters Chess Academy Inc. was founded by GM Gergely Szabo and Victoria Doknjas. GM Gergely Szabo has been Team Canada’s Head Coach at WYCC, WCCC, World U16 Youth Olympiad, and the Women’s Olympiad. Victoria has been Team Canada’s Head of Delegation at multiple WYCCs and NAYCCs.
Additionally, JtM In-House Masters include published chess book authors (Everyman Chess), FM Joshua Doknjas and FM John Doknjas, as well as NM Neil Doknjas, IM Nicholas Vettese, IM Adrian Musat, GM Shawn Rodrigue-Lemieux, and WGM Maïli-Jade Ouellet.
