2024 Western Canadian Open at
CapU Lonsdale on the second floor of The Shipyards in North Vancouver, BC.
This inaugural tournament will feature 3 CFC rated sections, where the Premier section will also be FIDE rated. The 2024 Western Canadian Open will run alongside the
2024 BC Closed Championship (by invitation) and the
2024 BC Women's Open (

Tournament Fee:Early bird $105 + GST: Until Aug 12, 2024 – midnight.
Regular $120 + GST: Until Oct 9, 2024 - midnight.
- Play up fee $30 if within 200 points range.
Special Discount for CapU Students, Faculty, or Staff Members: $20 + GST
- Applies only to the first 10 CapU Students, Faculty, Staff Members who register.
- Must have established CFC or FIDE ratings; and must have valid CFC membership.
- Will only be eligible for plaque prizes for the Top CapU Student or Top CapU Faculty and Staff, i.e., will not be eligible for cash prizes.
No onsite registration.
Rated: Open (CFC and FIDE Rated), U1600 and U1000 (CFC Rated)
Byes: Two 1/2 point byes are allowed, except last round.
Prizes: $3,500 Prize fund.

Juniors to Masters Chess Academy Inc. is the provider of the National Training Program for Canadian Youths, as sanctioned by the Chess Federation of Canada. Juniors to Masters Chess Academy Inc. was founded by
GM Gergely Szabo and
Victoria Doknjas. GM Gergely Szabo has been Team Canada’s Head Coach at WYCC, WCCC, World U16 Youth Olympiad, and the Women’s Olympiad. Victoria has been Team Canada’s Head of Delegation at multiple WYCCs and NAYCCs.
