A valid Chess Federation of Canada (CFC) membership is required.
Refunds
Only requests for a full refund before registration closes will be allowed.
Registration
We reserve the right to move players to the appropriate section based on their CFC rating.
Byes
Maximum of two ½ point byes may be requested.
No byes on Round 6 (requests for a bye on Round 6 will receive 0 point bye).
Playing Area
No food or drinks in the playing area (water bottles with closed caps are acceptable).
Silence is required in the playing area while games are in progress.
Fair Play
It is a serious offence to receive outside help.
Players are not to have electronic devices such as cell phones in their possession when their games are in progress (whether turned on or not ).
Electronic devices may be stored in a bag under the table or placed on the table.
Players are forbidden to leave the playing area when it is their move.
It is forbidden to discuss your game with anyone until it is over, or any other game in progress with one of the players involved.
Health and Safety
For the health and safety of all players, if you are sick or experiencing any symptoms of illness, we kindly ask that you voluntarily withdraw from the tournament. Our chess community is only as strong as the mutual respect and consideration that we have for one another. Thank you.
Tiebreaks
Prize money split evenly among everyone tied.
Tiebreak for non-cash prizes decided by:
Direct Encounter.
Buchholz Cut 1.
Buchholz.
The greater number of games with Black (games not played are count as played with White).
The greater number of wins.
The younger birthdate.
Photos and Videos
By entering the venue premises, you consent to being photographed or recorded in videos. This footage may be used for internal references, social media marketing, or promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be photographed, recorded, or promoted, you can contact us via email, and we will accommodate your request.
Photos by spectators are allowed for the first 5 minutes of each round, but please be discrete and respectful to not disturb players.
