A valid Chess Federation of Canada (CFC) membership is required.
Refunds
Request for refund can only be made no later than 20 days before the start of the event. 20% administration fee will be charged.
Registration
We reserve the right to move players to the appropriate section based on their CFC rating.
Byes
Requests for bye (1/2 pt.) may only be made before the start of the tournament for rounds 1 and 2 only. Maximum of two ½ point byes may be requested.
No byes on last round (requests for a bye on last round will receive 0 point bye).
Playing Area
No food or drinks in the playing area (water bottles with closed caps are acceptable).
Silence is required in the playing area while games are in progress.
Fair Play
It is a serious offence to receive outside help.
Players are not to have electronic devices such as cell phones in their possession when their games are in progress (whether turned on or not ).
Electronic devices may be stored in a bag under the table or placed on the table.
Players are forbidden to leave the playing area when it is their move.
It is forbidden to discuss your game with anyone until it is over, or any other game in progress with one of the players involved.
Health and Safety
For the health and safety of all players, if you are sick or experiencing any symptoms of illness, we kindly ask that you voluntarily withdraw from the tournament. Our chess community is only as strong as the mutual respect and consideration that we have for one another. Thank you.
Tiebreaks
Prize money split evenly among everyone tied.
Tiebreaks for non-cash prizes will be according to CFC handbook.
Photos and Videos
By entering the venue premises, you consent to being photographed or recorded in videos. This footage may be used for internal references, social media marketing, or promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be photographed, recorded, or promoted, you can contact us via email, and we will accommodate your request.
Photos by spectators are only allowed before the start of each round. Do not use flash and be respectful to not disturb players.
