Congratulations to IM Shawn Rodrigue-Lemieux (2022 WYCC U18 Open Champion) and Rachel Ruoxuan Chen (2022 WYCC U14 Girls – Top 9)!
Quotes from Team Canada Head Coach GM Gergely Szabo:
“Shawn's cruising towards the title was quite impressive, especially as he topped the rankings by a full point. His play was extremely confident, and I think it's a safe bet to predict Shawn to become Canada's next GM. It was a privilege coaching him - hope to see other great results from him as well!”
“Rachel's strong start gave hope for another Canadian World Champion (she had 5.5/7, as Shawn). Her 7.5 points were enough for a great top 10 finish, confirming the pool of talent Canada has in the Girls section as well.”
