Over this past weekend, on Saturday July 4, 2020, Juniors to Masters Inc. organized yet another online team match, this time with the Vancouver Island Team, as well as running along side the team match the Juniors to Masters Summer Open with two sections, Open and U1000, for a total of 72 Players over chess.com.

With the recent CFC Covid-19 Rating Incentive announcement, Juniors to Masters wants to provide opportunities for Chess Players both young and not-as-young to enjoy some fun, competitive online chess and especially to have the chance to earn their CFC Regular rating 200 bonus!

Big thank yous and congratulations to Paul Leblanc, who took on Team Captain duties and organized his Vancouver Island Team to square off with the Juniors to Masters Team which was Team Captained by Victoria Doknjas who also shared team match organizer duties.

Thank you also to WIM Svitlana Demchenko, who is part of the Juniors to Masters Leadership Development Team, and who volunteered to help prep the Juniors to Masters Team prior to the big team match.

Individual Players’ Results:

1. Harrison (Hangchen) Liu wins 1st Place with undefeated score of 4.5pts/5 games.

2. Joshua Imoo, Josiah Field, and Li Geng won a 3 way tie for 2nd Place, all with 4pt./5 games - Special mention that Li Geng increased his CFC Active rating to 200+ pts over his CFC Regular rating, but needs to play 5 more CFC Active rated to be able to apply to increase his CFC Regular rating from 1437 to 1637 due to Covid-19 Rating Incentive!

3. Drake Chen will be awarded 200 CFC Regular rating incentive points for his outstanding performance over two recent tournaments, Juniors to Masters Charity Chess Tournament – Helping the Fight Against Covid-19 and the Juniors to Masters vs. Vancouver Island Team Match.

Juniors to Masters Chess Academy Inc. was founded by GM Gergely Szabo and Victoria Doknjas. GM Gergely Szabo has been Team Canada’s Head Coach at WYCC, WCCC, World U16 Youth Olympiad, and the Women’s Olympiad. Victoria has been Team Canada’s Head of Delegation at multiple WYCCs and NAYCCs.
